Promoter Frank Maloney has told Laura Saperstein to go back to her job as a lawyer and insisted he should never have got involved with women's boxing.

Saperstein, 34, drew national attention after giving up her job to turn pro. But after winning her first three fights, two of which were under Maloney, she tired of her association.

The two parted company this week, even though she had signed up for a four-fight deal.

MAL secured the Barratts Maccabi Sunday League title with a three-wicket victory over Chigwell.

The evergreen Charlie Sherrard removed both Chigwell openers in his first spell. The first was caught at first slip by Yoav Lebens before he bowled Murray for 17. Brad Ormsby began to look dangerous with a few well-struck boundaries. However, with the field set back, he fell into the trap and was caught by Grant Traub for 25 off Yoni Schurder's bowling.

Betar Jerusalem have been handed the severest of punishments by the Israel FA after fans invaded the pitch during their match against Maccabi Herzliya on April 13.

They were leading 1-0 when the match was abandoned after 86 minutes after fans poured on to the pitch to celebrate what they thought was their team clinching a second successive championship.

Herzliya have been handed a 2-0 technical victory, while Betar have been docked two additional points, four more points off next season and ordered to play their next four home games behind closed doors.

Vanilla Bally is looking to make sporting history by becoming the first Israeli horse to win a race in England.

Trained and owned by Oren Sada, the three-year-old filly was bred at Bally Stud in Pardess Hanna near Hadera. Sada made the purchase when the horse was aged six months, and built a stable in his garden in Ramle near Tel Aviv.

Rising star Alex Moss is making a name for himself at Watford. Moss was spotted whilst he was playing for Woodside Park in the AJY.

An avid Manchester United fan, the midfielder joined Watford two years ago and was selected to join the club's new Harefield academy. The academy is run like a normal school but provides training sessions three times more then any other club in the country. One of the classes sees Moss take part in ballet lessons to improve flexibility and subtleness.

South Manchester Maccabi won the years six to eight competition at Jom Ha Voetbal in
Amsterdam.

Celebrating its 60th anniversary, the club took a group of 68, including 22 juniors. Chairman Johnny Davis and manager Neil Collins were presented with cut glass decanters by the senior players for the work they had done for the club over the past 40 years. Junior members of the delegation visited the Anne Frank museum and the Van Gogh museum.

Israel's Andy Ram teamed up with Max Mirnyi of Belarus to win the men's doubles at the Bank of Austria Trophy tournament in Vienna.

The victory was Ram's 14th in doubles competition, though the straight-sets win over Philipp Petzschner and Alexander Peyer was the first time he has played without Jonathan Erlich in a tournament since winning the Indianapolis title with Croatia's Mario Ancic in 2003.
