Israel's Civil Administration, accompanied by Israeli troops, destroyed six new building foundations in Jerusalem's Etzion bloc.

Five of the foundations destroyed Wednesday night in the Bat Ayin community were for private homes and one was for a synagogue, according to reports.

Earlier Wednesday, the Civil Authority demolished a building foundation in the settlement of Yakir. Residents protested during the demolition.

A local activist's interview with a former Iranian diplomat accused of planning the bombing of a Buenos Aires Jewish center has upset Argentine Jewish community.

Moshen Rabbani, Iran's former cultural attache in Buenos Aires, said in a radio interview with Luis D'Elia that he will not appear before an Argentine court on charges that he planned the 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish center, which killed 85 and injured hundreds.

How could a conversion bill, which set out to marginally expand the list of rabbis who can perform conversions in Israel, set off a string of events that almost brought the government down' Though hard to imagine, the Israeli government coalition agreements include clauses that call for legislation to improve conversion in Israel. A Brooklyn rabbi was found guilty of sexually assaulting a male teenager.

A Brooklyn Supreme Court jury on Tuesday found Baruch Lebovits guilty on eight of 10 counts, the New York Daily News reported.

Lebovits, 59, who owns a travel agency in Borough Park, was convicted of sexually molesting the Jewish teen in 2004 and 2005. He faces up to seven years in prison.

Ethiopia's dwindling Jewish community, known as the Falash Mura, on Tuesday said their living conditions at home were desperate and appealed on Israel to keep its pledge to welcome them.

Egypt will shoulder the costs of restoring the country's Jewish houses of worship said the culture minister Tuesday, two days after a historic synagogue in Cairo's ancient Jewish quarter was rededicated in a private ceremony.

Farouk Hosny said in a statement that his ministry views Jewish sites as much a part of Egypt's culture as Muslim mosques or Coptic churches and the restorations would not require any foreign funding.
